Role of the Board
The Board is the governance arm of Edmund Rice Community & Refugee Services, and is responsible for ensuring the well-ordered operation of the services offered by ERCRS, particularly the tutoring and learning support programs.
Particular functions of the Board include:
- Planning and approving the programs offered
- Writing and approving policies
- Drawing up, approving an annual budget
- Monitoring income and expenditure throughout the year, in line with the budget
- Applying for and acquitting Grants
- Receiving and answering correspondence
- Performance appraisals of staff
- Advertising for, interviewing and appointing new staff
Composition
- This Board is composed of up to 10 voting members and 1 non-voting member.
- Board representation is aimed at ensuring gender balance as well as striving to represent the different groups that are part of the ERCRS fabric.
- Four sub-committees of the Board operated throughout the year. These sub-committees were : Executive, Policy, Finance, and Grants

Four sub-committees of the Board operate between Board Meetings. Each Board member volunteers to be a member of one of the sub-committees:
